ISM Weekly Report 2

This week in ISM, we have started building our call list for all the possible mentors we could contact for our fields of study. With Cardiothoracic surgery, I have been looking at various hospital through out the Dallas/Fort worth area for possible surgeons to contact. I began at the main hospital I volunteer at, Baylor Scott and White McKinney, and then I proceeded to check with other hospitals in Dallas. I have also tried to utilize any family connects my parents might have made over the years. In preparations to eventual interviews with these possible mentors we have also begun making and revising our résumés, along side our call scripts for mentors calls. This is all done in order to get prepared for the process of find our mentor that we will collaborate with for our project. I have also begun looking for articles that I may use to base my next research assessment on. I would love to delve deeper into the topic of heart surgery related to 3D printed parts or any of the latest developments regarding pacemakers. All this research on local surgeons has shown me that there is a huge number of cardiac surgeons just round me and a lot of issues for me to one day help solve. And I can not wait to see what possibilities await me in the future.
