That feeling humans get when the heart is pumping, all the muscles are engaged, and breathing is fast, is one that is pure bliss. What do all these things describe? “Exercise is any bodily activity that enhances or maintains physical fitness and overall health and wellness.” In the field of cardiothoracic surgery, having good heart health is crucial. In the last EOL the dietary aspect of having excellent heart health was explored, but this EOL delves into the exercising aspect of heart health. The beautiful thing about exercise is that it not only helps with improving and maintaining heart health, it also keeps the whole body running better. However, there is a lot of misinformation online and that can make it tough for people who are seeking the life altering information that could help improve themselves. In an article called “3 Kinds of Exercise That Boost Heart Health”, published by Johns Hopkins Medicine, there are detailed descriptions and explanations of the 3 best types of exercises that can be used to grow and and maintain heart health. And this can be as huge part of the exercise subcategory of my final product.

The article begins with explaining the vast benefits of being active and exercising as much as possible. With much of the population being less inclined to be active this article reminds and reinforces why it can be useful to, every once in a while, get the heart pumping. Namely exercising can, “...strengthening the heart muscle, keeping your weight under control and warding off the artery damage from high cholesterol, high blood sugar and high blood pressure that can lead to heart attack or stroke”.( Johns Hopkins Medicine) In my previous research I learned that these were some of the most common heart related issues that are faced by humans today, so it is more critical now more than ever to include exercise as a daily part of people's lives.

Next the article details the three main types of exercise that should be practiced by people seeking to improve heart health. The doctors and researchers at Johns Hopkins found that aerobic exercise, resistance training, and stretching/flexibility/balance training are the most important exercises for advancing heart health. In creating a lifestyle regimen for my final product this can be a huge aspect of the whole plan. With my focus being mainly on diet, exercise, and resting practices this will be one of the three major parts of the system. Even though this article only covers 3 practices, and I will need to find a few more with specific examples, there is a good place to start and gather information from. And with the source being from one of the most respected colleges in the world it makes the information extremely trustable.

In conclusion, exercise is one of the few thing people can do to help improve and maintain their heart health. With the rising rates of obesity, heart disease, and deaths caused by heart related conditions this should be one of the critical parts of the everyones futures if they want to live healthier lives and live longer in general. With a bigger focus on aerobic exercise, resistance training, and stretching/flexibility/balance training there will be noticeably better health for anyone that does these exercises regularly. Hopefully, this knowledge will help me create a final product that can not only help improve the lives of many but also possibly, in the long run, save lives.
