This week in ISM, we conducted another research assessment and started discussing the original work and the trifold that we have to make. As I am beginning to start working on my original work, all my research has started to center around my project. I researched robotic cardiac surgery. Being one of the most cutting-edge technologies used in surgery, this holds a huge amount of interest for me. I find the ability for a robot to perform surgeries so amazing. There will be more precision, fewer costs, better recovery for the patients, and in almost every way the method is better. If all surgery changes into this form of minimally invasive surgery using robots, this can be a new era for the medicine as we know it and allow for the biggest jump in medicine in a long time. Next, I had to come up with a new idea for the original work. Due to my previous idea not being viable, I decided to make a proposal for the adoption of 3D printed modeling for surgery in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. Hopefully, this will allow me to delve into an aspect of cardiothoracic surgery that deeply interests me and gets me excited for a possible future in the field.
